RECREATION
Plockton is an ideal base for touring and walking.
Whether you want gentle relaxation or more strenuous exercise, there are a great many walks which have dramatic views over the sea, hills, and Inner
Hebrides. Walk books are available for your use in the bedrooms.
The Skye Bridge is only 6 miles from Plockton. To the north is Inverewe Gardens (2hours) : Applecross and Torridon (2 hours), Lochcarron and Kishorn (1 hour). To the east is Inverness (2hours) and Glenelg (1 hour).
Water Sports
Most types of boat can be hired locally from Leisure Marine, who also operate seal trip excursions regularly during the day.(weather permitting). Our active local sailing club hold races throughout the summer, culminating in Regatta Fortnight at the end of July and beginning of August.
Golf
There are 9 hole golf courses in Kyle of Lochalsh, Lochcarron, and Sconcer on
Skye.

In addition to sea angling there are many hill lochs which can be fished for brown trout.
Pony Trekking.
Trekking is available on the outskirts of Portree on Skye where the very friendly staff take you through some of the most stunning scenery
Wildlife
The area is rich in wildlife. The bays and woodlands support many species of land birds, amongst them are golden
eagle, sparrow hawk, kestrel, buzzard, merlin, and tawny owl. The islands off Plockton are home to a large colony of seals. In the adjacent woodlands it is possible to see red and roe deer.

Plockton is served by the Inverness to Kyle railway line and is worth a trip just for the magnificent scenery.
There is no local bus service but City Link operate a service from
Glasgow, Inverness and Fort William to Kyle. Local taxis are available for hire.
Plockton has an airstrip if you want to come by air!
