LOCATION

The Shieling is just a few miles from the Isle of Skye

... sitting on the shores of Plockton Bay

Directions to the Shieling Bed and Breakfast:
The Shieling Bed and Breakfast is very easy to find. Coming via the A87 from Inverness or Fort William, visitors can either go straight to Kyle of Lochalsh. When you reach 'Kyle' follow the signs for Plockton. When you arrive in the village of Plockton drive along the main street (on the shore front) and turn right at the village hall into Cooper Street. Proceed to the end of the street and the Shieling is clearly signed on the left. (Its next to the thatched cottage)

Coming from the north via Lochcarron or Strathcarron, one can either go direct to the A87 or take the back road through Achmore to Plockton - see top map.

If you are coming by train then you get off at Plockton Station.

Into Scotland:
There are airports at Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen. The train leaves Inverness several times a day for Kyle of Lochalsh around 5 minutes by car from the house - see above.

Coaches too depart frequently and daily from Glasgow and Edinburgh and journey to Kyle of Lochalsh.

Ferries journey to Skye (from Glenelg and Mallaig) and the outer isles of Lewis, Harris and Uist. Click below for more details. The Skye Bridge affords easy passage on to the Isle of Skye and is open 24 hours.
Note there is also a small airstrip at Plockton for light aircraft.

We look forward to meeting you and wish you a safe journey in our direction.
